Today Dr Pollitzer held a seminar entitled "We need to talk about sex" at the 38th Congress of the Federation of European Biomedical Sciences in St Petersberg, Russia. The congress is a six day event with over 3000 delegates. Elizabeth's talk, which sparked lively exchange during the session, examined the wide range of different levels where sex and gender impact the quality of science and scientific endeavour, where they are separate and where they interlink. Topics included sexual dimorphism of cells, improving research efficacy for women and men, gender bias in hiring, diversity in teams and much more. Many of these topics will be further explored at the Gender Summit 3 - North America in Washington D.C. on the 13 - 15 November 2013. www.gender-summit.com.
